The Acoustic State was formed in June of 2002, when Guitarist/Lead Vocalist Grayson Minney met up with Pianist/Keyboardist Eric Heath. The two quickly realized they were onto something big when they began to write such intricate instrumental songs so effortlessly. This amazing musical communication between the two artists was quickly noticed by fans and created a local buzz throughout their neighboring home towns.
Eventually, Minney started to write some songs on his own, but this time he added lyrics and discovered an incredible and deeply emotional vocal ability which until then, resided only within the walls of his shower or the confines of his automobile. Minney then brought the new songs to Heath who was greatly impressed. The two began to form a brand new band with the newly added heartfelt vocal melodies. This was a key turning point for them as it opened doors that were once shut due to the fact that up to that point, although impressive, they were still just an instrumental band. The two combined their ever-flowing creativity and recorded their first 6 track self-produced demo album in June of 2005. This album continues to circulate rapidly underground throughout Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and has found itself as far out as California and Colorado.
Chris Bowes, a newly added member to the group was introduced in September of 2005. His drumming ability greatly impressed both Minney and Heath as this finally ended the search for a percussionist that fit their standards. The Acoustic State has landed shows at numerous rock clubs and colleges in New England, and is filling up their concert schedule for this spring. The newly formed trio is currently working in the studio on a professional album, and that will be available in the spring/summer of 2006.
